Report a domain that is being misused.

If a .UK domain on my tag (my registrar ID at Nominet is VELOXIS) is used for phishing, malware, fraud or other abuse, report it here. I read every report and decide what action it needs.

Abuse reports come to me, Ruslan Kasyanov. Every domain on this tag is registered to me, so there is no customer to refer you to and nobody else to wait for.

If someone is in immediate danger, or you have lost money to fraud, contact the police first. In the UK, fraud and cybercrime can be reported to Action Fraud.

What counts as abuse

  • PhishingPages pretending to be a bank, shop or service to steal logins or payments.
  • MalwareSites or links that spread viruses, ransomware or other harmful software.
  • SpamUnsolicited bulk email sent from, or advertising, the domain.
  • FraudFake shops, investment scams and other deception for money.
  • Illegal contentContent that is unlawful, such as child sexual abuse material.
  • Other misuseBotnet control, impersonation, or other use that causes harm.

Child sexual abuse material should also be reported to the Internet Watch Foundation. Disputes about the right to a name, rather than its use, belong to Nominet’s Dispute Resolution Service.

What to include

The more precise the report, the faster I can act. Please send:

  • the domain name, and the full URLs where the abuse appears;
  • a short description of what is happening;
  • the dates and times you saw it, with time zone;
  • for spam or phishing email, the full message headers, not just a forwarded copy;
  • screenshots or other evidence;
  • your name and how to reach you, if you would like an update. Anonymous reports are read too.

Please do not attach the harmful file itself. A link to it is enough.

What happens next

  1. I acknowledge your report within 2 working days of it arriving.
  2. I check the domain and the evidence, and whether the name sits on my tag at all.
  3. Then I act on what I find. Every name on this tag is registered to me, so there is nobody to warn: I take the content down myself, or ask Nominet to switch the name off. Where the web host or the police need to know, I tell them. If the evidence does not back the report up, I take no action.
  4. If you left contact details, I tell you what I have done, as far as I can without publishing anybody’s personal data.

A report does not lead to automatic deletion of a domain. Every case is checked, and the action depends on the facts.

If I am not the registrar

You can check which registrar manages a .UK domain with a WHOIS lookup on Nominet’s website. If the domain is not on tag VELOXIS, I cannot act on it and I will tell you so. Please contact the registrar shown in the lookup, or Nominet.
